Pool Covers

Only the Learn to Swim pool has a cover, the main pool does not. The cover is plastic with ‘bubbles’ and is attached to a plastic coated metal frame and operated by winding a large wheel which can be accessed from outside the fenced area. There is no requirement for heavy lifting or dragging of the pool covers. Once fully removed the cover is completely clear of the pool. The pool cover is located against the east wall of the GAC and does not obstruct supervisory sightlines nor is it in a position where patrons or staff can gain accidental access to it.

The pool cover is used In accordance with the Royal Life Saving Guidelines for Safe Pool Operation as follows:

  • Pool cover is completely removed before swimming
  • Pool cover does not substitute for adequate fencing. The Learn To Swim pool is surrounded by fencing
  • Pool cover is professionally installed.
  • Operation of pool cover poses no hazard when used correctly by turning large wheel.
  • Cover is not exposed to direct sunlight therefore protected from UV damage
  • Pool cover is located in a position that does not obstruct supervisory sightlines
  • Pool cover is not located in a position where it can create hazard to public or staff.
